Producer, Jason Andrews, has been staying busy since April! Some of the projects he was working on earlier in the year have been released or are in the process of doing so. Please check out all of these great artists!
The Atlanta-Athens country artist, Michael Whitworth, released his 3 song EP on iTunes. 94 The Bull has been playing his song “Just As Surprised As You” regularly for the past few months. If you haven’t heard it yet, be sure the pick up the EP on iTunes for $2.97 and keep requesting Michael to be heard on the radio!
Jason finished up recording with the Atlanta band, Freshman 15. Their EP will be released later this summer. I will keep you updated on when you can get that on iTunes. In the mean time, check out their new web design by Aaron Marsh of the design firm Sons of Nero. These boys have a new look AND a new song up!
Our newest (and most adorable) Spotlight family members, Simple As Surgery, just released their debut EP today on iTunes. These boys are an August, GA based band that we have been working with extensively for the past few months. They will be back in August to recording six more songs. You will be able to grab a hard copy of their full length this fall. In the mean time, head on over to iTunes and get their digitally released debut EP! Expect great things from these boys in the near future.
Jason has also recently finished an EP for Myrtle Beach band Miracle Year. Keep an eye out for their CD release! If you like Mayday Parade and Four Year Strong, you’re DEFINITELY going to dig these guys. You can hear one of their songs on their MySpace right now!

What’s up, everyone?! It has been a while since this blog has been updated! It has been a busy and prosperous year for Jason “JJ Killa” Andrews and Spotlight Sound Studio this year. Let me fill you in on all of the fun things that have happened!
In January 2009, an album Jason produced, engineered, and mixed for an Atlanta based band, The Bastard Suns, was released. Jason had a great time producing this album with the band and is in talks with them about doing another full length some time this year. In early 2009, Jason worked with Atlanta Rap artist, Young Dose, on a single featuring Rich Boy. “Don Dada” charted on the Billboard Rap 200 and has been gaining radio spins nationally since then.
In the Spring on 2009, Jason produced an EP Augusta based band, Believe I May. The “All of my Musings” EP was a great experience for Jason. It was definitely a step forward for both him and the band. In January 2010 Jason toured Japan playing drums for Atlanta based band, Holiday Parade. They toured with Twilight Record labelmates, Quiet Drive and Goot. A few of the albums Jason has produced for Holiday Parade have been released in Japan, including “2 Cheers for Tuesday” 2006, and “Living Like James Dean” 2009. Jason is planning on touring Japan again very soon and had such an amazing experience.
As for most recent projects, Jason Andrews produced and engineered Holiday Parade’s “Tickets & Passports (Acoustic Sessions)” which is available on iTunes. He has also just completed an EP with upcoming talent, Leah Marie. Jason co-wrote, produced, and engineered the “Uh Oh” EP with Leah. The album is to be released sometime this summer and Leah will touring soon with her band. Be sure to keep you eye out for her EP! Her music is not posted on her MySpace yet, but will be soon. Michael Whitworth, of Holiday Parade, worked with Jason on a 3 song country EP that should be released on iTunes soon, as well.
Jason is co-writing and producing local Atlanta band, Freshman 15 (Stand By, Twilight Records). These songs are going to be a revamping success for these pop-punkers. I just finished mixing an EP fof the band Perilus. I produced and mixed 4 songs for them. They are a progressive/alternative band from Atlanta. A lot went into their recordings. You should check it out…
In other news, The sub in the studio went bad :[ But, they are fixing it as we speak. So, the bass in the control room will be bangin’ before you know it.
Oh, I am headed up North at the end of this week for the Palm Centro Campus Invasion Music Festival in Maryland and for Bamboozle in New Jersey. We Are Only Fiction and Holiday Parade will be playing at these, so I figured I would go check it all out 
So, It looks like I used my Royer 121 (ribbon mic) too much because the ribbon went bad :[ But, the folks at Royer are so awesome that they re-ribboned it and got it back to me in about a week, which is awesome because I love that thing
Anyway, I finished tracking The Soundtrack’s EP and it’s sounding awesome! It will be mixed on Tuesday and then on Thursday I am starting an EP for Maradona (from Tallahassee, FL) We got a bit behind on the Perilus EP because their singer was sick. But, it will be done soon

There are several new things in the studio! We got an old 1970’s 4×10 Marshall cab with original greenback Celestion speakers, this thing sounds great! I know its boring but, we also got a lot of new mic cables and patch cables and headphones. I have been doing a lot of big sessions lately and needed more cable!!!! And, last we got the Kurzweil Mangler it is an effects processor that has a ton of crazy effects, not just reverbs and delays but stuff that will make you sound like an Alien or whatever… haha.
As far as work goes, I am in the middle of a few projects… I just finished a song for Take Cover (formerly know as Forever fades Away) and it sounds sick. You can hear it at www.myspace.com/spotlightsoundstudio. I am working on an EP for Perilus and an EP for The Soundtrack. Both of those will be done on the 1st of April and then I go into the studio with Maradona (from Tallahassee, FL) we will also be working on an EP.
